This beautiful necklace is one of many faux turquoise necklaces created by Susan Delaney in honor of the life and work of Nelson Mandela, the former President of South Africa. He was President of the country from 1994-1999. His life and work continues to be an inspiration to many.
“Your playing small does not serve the world. Who are you not to be great?” ~Nelson Mandela
Susan Delaney created the necklaces using polymer clay. For this necklace she challenged herself by choosing the colors of the South African flag, black, gold, red, green, and navy. These colors represent unity.
You can read more about the process she used and view other necklaces she made in honor of Nelson Mandela, by visiting her blog where she posts about these beautiful wearable works of art.

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” ~Nelson Mandela
