back cover of Tapestry Bead CrochetNormally I post a picture of a book’s cover but I wanted you to see the beautiful projects on the back of this book from Lark Crafts. Ok, the photo on the cover is equally amazing but you are less likely to see the two on the back unless you are in the bookstore getting ready to add it to your collection or already have a copy. Tapestry Bead Crochet Projects and Techniques by Ann Benson should be in your collection if you love ornate, beaded projects that have a vintage flair like this peacock bag and leopard-print pillbox. Using three crochet stitches, beads, and instruction from Ann on the included DVD, you can learn to make 18 projects included in the book.

Enter for a chance to win this Lark book by leaving a comment about how you use crochet in your jewelry making. Giveaway ends June 28, 2011.

If you can’t wait until the drawing ends to get started making tapestry bead crochet, head over to Lark Crafts to get a couple free projects from the book today–the golden paisley bag or the treasure box. You can also see more of Ann’s work on her store’s website, Beads East, and buy a complete project kit.

I make a pendant by crocheting a white flower and, then, stiffening it with laundry starch.

Actually, I don’t crochet at all… or really make jewelry for that matter. I have plenty of friends who do both. It’s time that I join in. This book seems fabulous and would be the perfect incentive to finally tackle these art forms.

I don’t use a lot of crochet in my jewelry yet, but have been trying to add it to the things that I do. I have been crocheting wire with beads and have been trying to teach myself how to crochet flowers to make pins.

Well, I like to experiment with crocheted wire and beads; sometimes adding the beads as I work, sometimes adding them afterwards. I also like to make embellishments such as crocheted beaded flowers, and crocheted braids for stringing on bigger beads.

My heart melted last month when I returned from a weekend getaway with my dh, to find my dd and our Nana cozily crocheting together on the couch, completely immersed in their project, and each other :) It brought back the memories of Nana teaching me all about “Tri-Chem” when I was my dd’s age, and just how special I felt when crafting with Nana…. :)

I had no idea that crochet and jewelry-making could go hand in hand as beautifully as these pictures show – it would be awesome to learn this craft and this book would surely show the way!

  51. Lawrence J on July 9, 2011 9:26 pm

I’ve just started the beading journey and am using it as a creative outlet… trying to find a way for self-expression. I’ve started with seed beads and have been lucky enough to have found larks books and have been learning by reading “Shaped Beadwork” and “Embelished Beadweaving”. I’m looking to purchase both but for the time being have them out on loan from the library. I would sincerely love & appreciate the win this book.

  52. Lawrence J on July 9, 2011 9:35 pm

oops, just realized this ended 6/28 and we’re now in july.
