A REALLY easy, low tech casting method is by using cuttlefish. Its easy, inexpensive and home studio friendly. Cuttlefish are soft and easy to cut open. Carving your own design into them is easy and fun.  A complete tutorial is here.

    I saw the cuttlefish casting done on the DIY jewelry making show. I really want to give it a try, but I have to wait until I have a decent work space. Right now I work in front of the T.V with a small table.
