Bead Expo
Portland
Announces Huge Lineup of

Author Book Signings and Free Demonstrations

Meet nine popular authors and your favorite beading and jewelry-making magazine editors, Friday-Sunday, March 28-30, 2008

Bead Expo Portland 2008, March 27-30 at the

Oregon
Convention Center, has announced an exciting lineup of book signings and free how-to demonstrations with nine popular beading and jewelry-making authors, magazine editors and designers. A diamond may be a girl’s best friend, but these days beads are not far behind. Beading is the fastest-growing segment of the crafts industry, and for four days,
Portland becomes its headquarters as thousands of beading enthusiasts from around the country takeover the city for this 16th annual event.

One of the most important aspects of Bead Expo is the Meet-the-Authors and Meet-the-Editors events, where fans can interact with their favorite authors and editors of Interweve Press’s Beadwork, Stringing, Step by Step Beads, and Step by Step Wire magazines.  The book signings and technique demonstrations will take place at the entrance to the Expo in the Interweave Press booth. This year’s featured authors include:

MARLENE BLESSING, known by beaders worldwide, is a frequent guest on public television’s only jewelry-making how-to program, Beads, Baubles and Jewels. She’s also the editorial director for Beadwork, Stringing, and Step by Step magazines and co-author of Create Jewelry: Pearls, Create Jewelry: Crystals, and the forthcoming Create Jewelry: Stones (Interweave Press, 2007-2008).

LISA KAN, a lampwork bead artist and jewelry designer based in San Marino,
Calif., and author of Bead Romantique (Interweave Press, March 2008) is known for her elegant, feminine, heirloom-quality jewelry designs. Her designs have been published in Beadwork, Stringing, Bead Unique, and Bead Style magazines, and her lampwork has been featured in several books about glass beadmaking.
