I have to admit, I was intrigued when I saw this book, could you really make interesting beads with fabric?? The answer is a resounding YES!!!!!
Kristal Wick is a fabric bead goddess, combining scrapbooking, beading, fiber arts, and mixed-media techniques to show you how to create 30 gorgeous beads from rolled tubes of fabrics like muslin, silk, and even ribbon. And she doesn’t leave the fabric alone, there are lots of ways you can alter whatever fabric you have and make them even more lush. There is also a number of embellishment techniques to add even more zing to your beads. It’s another great way of recycling fabric scraps that would have just gone into the trash otherwise. If you are a crafter, you more than likely have everything you need to get started right away.
The book starts with explaining the materials and tools you will be using to make the fabric beads. Then it goes on to all the ways of creating a variety of surface designs. There are lots of clearly written instructions on how to make the beads easily as well as how to cover inexpensive wooden/ plastic beads too. Then there is a chapter on Fabric Bead projects, making gorgeous earrings, bracelets and necklaces. To top it all off, the gallery section at the end is even MORE fantastic fiber eye candy.
This book is a really wonderful addition to my jewelry making library, and will be for you too.
